Happy Easter!

The Sun is out! The Sun is out! It's Easter Sunday but here in Yorkshire I'm happy to celebrate the appearance of the golden globe alone. Her appearance seems to auger well for the start of my life as a Blogger.

I'm fighting the Voice in my head which tells me that I'm sending out my words to the Void, that no one is listening, but on a morning like this one I feel I must travel in hope. Let's face it, the alternative to doing this is to go and re scrub the bath in an attempt to remove the lurid yellow stain left by last night's Lush bath bomb! A gift from my youngest, a gift of love, but as I lay there I could almost feel the ph balance in my body altering and the warnings to use only "unperfumed  products" clattering in my brain. Cotton underwear only today!

Or I could, of course, try to get the Kitchen back to the state it was yesterday morning, and dig out the leg of lamb for the Easter lunch I promised today. I had high hopes for that and, sadly for them, so did the rest of the family. I looked at Jamie's Mother Ship lamb, Good Housekeeping's Greek Style offering. Too much trouble. There's a blog to write and clothing to share. If I pull it out now and rub in a bit of oil and rosemary I am released for a couple of hours of even Thinking about it!

After a lot of thought, I've decided in my first blog to share my recent purchases. They are all stored in the spare room- the holding bay- until I finally acknowledge that I Am keeping them- and they can be absorbed into my wardrobe. By that time I've had them so long that there is no guilt attached to those - now not so new - items.

The title of my blog - 'Divining Style' - is a nod to the fact that I do seem to have the ability (although I say so myself) to identify clothes or accessories which then appear in the Press. It's a game I play as I open the Style pages of the week end papers - what is in there which I've already bought? You'll have to take my word for it to start with!

It started off with a Must Have Denim Skirt and  a pair of Kick Flare Jeans....

Marks and Spencer Per Una Kick Flare Jeans £39.50. Mine are actually indigo - but now sold out it seems.

TopShop "Smile" Clogs £56.
I'm hoping these will be a wardrobe staple from now on as they are perfect with both the skirt and the jeans. Just enough height not to be swamped by either skirt or trouser length. The platform makes them surprisingly comfortable and easy to walk in . Getting the length of the flared jean right is crucial. They need to graze the ground and these shoes allow them to do this without the feeling of teetering around. They look brill with some of my Summer Dresses too- but I'm getting ahead of myself.

H&M Straight Shirt £14.99
The pattern is of moths and has a botanical print vibe. It hangs beautifully and looks great tucked into either the skirt or the jeans. Also works well with Skinnies- I'm definitely not giving up on them anytime soon!
Biba Embellished Top £21.20 (reduced from £89 House of Fraser)
This top is stunning! Much better with the jeans and although not strictly the 70s look I was mining, it feels relaxed enough, yet glamorous, to complement them.

Next Fringed Bag £30
This comes in both black and cream but the cream grabbed me. If the 70's is not your thing, if you prefer just a nod in its direction, this is the purchase to go for.
